Synopsis

Two young girls, Satsuki and her younger sister Mei, move into a house in the country with their father to be closer to their hospitalized mother. Satsuki and Mei discover that the nearby forest is inhabited by magical creatures called Totoros. They soon befriend these Totoros, and have several magical adventures.

Elle's Character

Mei is a 4-year-old Japanese girl with a big imagination. Mei is the younger sister of Satsuki (Dakota Fanning) and is the first to discover the huge Totoro near their home. While the girls' mother is ill, Satsuki helps her father to care for young Mei.

Trivia

. Originally, creator Hayao Miyazaki only planned one 6 year old girl in this story. He later decided to split her into two different girls - Mei (meaning 'May' in English) and Satsuki (meaning 'May' in old Japanese).
